![]() ![]() ![]() It was one of Steam's biggest Early Access successes - releasing in Early Access in late 2017, it already sold 1.5 million copies by March 2019, well before its 1.0 release in August 2019. With Marvel Midnight Suns being the first AAA game to put deckbuilding/card mechanics front and center, I think it's time to look back at how profoundly influential Slay the Spire has been in the PC indie space, and the current market in general. I'd say Hearthstone is the other big candidate for discussion here, but that's another topic. ![]() I know that the genre is big in table top and board gaming but this discussion is about video games. This topic is prefaced with the acknowledgement that Slay the Spire is not the end all be all, nor the progenitor of the deckbuilding genre.
